Embajadores: “One of the Coolest Neighborhoods in the World”

We all like to think that there’s something special about every neighborhood in Madrid, but Embajadores has just been honored with the title of “One of the coolest neighborhoods in the world.”

In a recent article by TimeOut magazine, Embajadores was named the ninth coolest neighborhood in the world (out of 50) for being the most lively and diverse. And we couldn’t agree more.

The article highlights some of the barrio’s best aspects, like El Rastro, Calle Valapies’ variety of Indian restaurants, the popular markets, and all its colorful murals.

On top of all that, we love the neighborhood for how well connected it is to must-see landmarks, like Retiro Park, Plaza Mayor, Puerta del Sol, and Atocha Station.

Other recommendations you must check out:

El 32Calle Lavapies, 32

We can’t get enough of their signature cocktails and coffees. We recommend ordering the iced latte because we haven’t been able to stop thinking about it. This cafe is also great for picky eaters.

NAPCalle Ave María, 19

We recommend this pizzeria for its quick service and delicious options that stay true to the Neapolitan style.

Taberna el SurCalle de la Torrecilla del Leal, 12

You’ll find traditional Spanish food done well. Get the gambas, try some ropa vieja and of course, make sure you order a pitcher of sangria.

Cine DoreCalle de Santa Isabel, 3

Watch old movies where tickets are cheap. One of the rooms even recreates the earlier cinema in the first Salón Doré, opened in the early 1900s.

MediaspuriPlaza Tirso de Molina, 1

This discoteca always has a line down the street. Find music you like on different floors, watch aerial performers and enjoy cool vibes. Be careful! You won’t want to leave this night club until 6 a.m.

Now, tell us, do you agree with Embajadores’s new cool status?
