What We’ll Do
This tour is an easy walk around old town Madrid. It features tons of sightseeing and socializing as we taste the local cañas & tapas, just as the “Madrileños” do in Madrid!
Our route starts in la Plaza de España (one of Madrid’s most famous plazas), where we will walk to la Plaza de Oriente, a beautiful area with plants and trees, lined with the statues of Spanish kings from the medieval period.
From there, we can see el Teatro Real ( Madrid's Opera House) and el Palacio Real (the Royal Palace), known to be Europe’s largest palace by square foot, with a whopping 3,400+ rooms and 'just' 🙂 under 1.5 million square feet.
Across from el Palacio Real, we’ll also look at el Catedral de la Almudena (a Catholic cathedral) before making our first stop in one of my favorite cañas & tapas bars.
After our first refreshment, we'll continue enjoying other must-see landmarks, like Plaza Mayor, special hidden streets, and we will finish at the iconic Mercado de San Miguel (a food market surrounded by beautiful cast iron). There, I can give you recommendations on where to go, and what to try, at the various tapas bars in the area.
